“My grace is always more than enough for you, and my power finds its full expression through weakness. So, I will celebrate my weakness, for when I am weak, I sense more deeply the mighty power of Christ living in me. So, I am not defeated by my weakness, but delighted.” (TPT
The Apostle Paul writes these words referencing Satan’s attack against him. Paul calls this attack, an attack against the flesh. Paul asked God to remove the attack, but God said no. Then we read the reason for the no. In our weakness God can show us His power.
Weakness is not something we usually boast about. Weakness in a person creates images of feebleness, or lack of strength. We don’t like to admit we need help.
Paul is not referring to physical strength or determination. We know Paul had been whipped, ship wrecked, and thrown in prison. He was tough.
Paul is referring to spiritual weakness. Spiritually we are weak without the Spirit of God. Paul was being attacked in the flesh. The flesh desires to rebel against the things of God. Our flesh can only be overcome when we realize our need to be dependent on God. Paul understands the flesh always seeks independence and rebels against the dependence of God. We must be weak, dependent on God before we can experience the grace and power of God to crucify the flesh.
What area is the enemy attacking you? Satan knows the area we are weak in. Stop trying to fight the battles in your strength and become weak. Depend on God and experience God’s mighty power to bring victory in your battle.
