John 6:63; “It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life.”
The Spirit gives life.
We spend all our time trying to find meaning, purpose, and life from the flesh. Jesus says the emotional sensation, the pleasurer seeking highs from money, success, or any other seductive things the world entices us with is not life. Your pursuit of pleasure from the flesh won’t bring life because these things don’t have the power to impart life in us. Why? Because we are spirit. And since we are spirit the only thing that can impart life comes from the Spirit of God. Our creator. That is why Jesus said, “Life is more than food, and the body is more than clothing. Neither of these things have the ability to bring life in us. Yes, we need food to keep the body alive, and clothes for protection, and warmth. They may be a part of life, but they don’t bring life.
Since we are spirit beings. We need a spiritual source to be ALIVE! So, in John 6:63 Jesus is teaching us the source of life is the Spirit of God. “The Spirit gives life” The Spirit of God quickens our spirit and brings it to life. This is what happens when we are baptized in the Spirit of God. The Spirit of God immerses our spirit with Himself, bringing life into our spirit.
Then Jesus says, “The words I speak are spirit, imparting life to your spirit. The Word of God, or the word we receive from heaven in our spirit feeds our spirit. When your spirit is feed spiritual words, your spirit is growing stronger.
Then He says, “These words are life.” There is no life that can be found except from my word. The Word of God is the source for life. Are you feeding on His Word all day? Or are you fasting from the Word? Life proceeds from the Spirit and “my words are spirit and life.”
